IMMCC 2020 - Online Singing Competiton
This year's singing competition will take place ONLINE due to COVID-19!
IMMCC Maribor 2020 Online SINGING COMPETITION:
Competitors will be able to apply for the competition from Sunday 1. 11. 2020 until Sunday 15. 11. 2020.
Application is prolonged until March 31, 2021.
Due to the large restrictions (C-19 epidemic) in most of Europe and around the world that do not allow singers to be able to record live recordings with pianists, we have decided to extend the applications for the competition until the 31th of March 2021.
The results will be published on the IMMCC website on 15th of April 2021.
Application must include:
- Fully filled web application form,
- Photo,
- Proof of payment of registration fee,
- Photocopy (scan) of passport or identity card,
- Copies of songs,
- video recording of your program, recorded and submitted by the rules - Technical instructions for preparing the recording are published below.
Special rules for categories with two stages (4 and 5):
Categories 4 and 5 are held in two stages. Meaning you have to record two recordings (both in one take) and send them via application form.
Among all competitors, the jury will choose up to 10 singers, that will be invited to a "live" audition to Opera SNG Maribor, where the chosen candidates will be auditioning for the two special prizes: Two opera roles in Opera SNG Maribor in the next two opera seasons.
The results will be published online on IMMCC website on 15th of March 2021.
Application: 1. 11. 2020 - 31. 03. 2021
Technical instructions for preparing the recording:
1) Each stage must be recorded in one part. If you are applying to a category where there are two stages, you will have to record two videos, each recorded in one piece (the video must not be cut and processed).
2) At the beginning of the video, be sure to introduce yourself, say that you are applying for the IMMCC Maribor 2020 International Singing Competition and state your category (Example: "I am a name and surname, voice type, I am applying for the IMMCC Maribor 2020 International Singing Competition in category xy ").
3) Then announce your program (author1, song title1, author2, song title 2, etc.) and start performing all the songs / arias in peace - one after another without interrupting the recording.
4) Technical details about the video:
- Recording has to be video.
- The video should be recorded in horizontal mode so that both the singer and the pianist are clearly visible. We suggest installing a recording device (camera, phone ...) on a tripod!
- The video can be recorded by any capture device that captures video and audio in a good resolution. We recommend newer cameras/phone/other video device models.
- The background should not be too bright, as there is a danger that the singer will not be seen. Also, don’t make the hall too dark so you can’t see the performers! (Due to the contrast ratio)
- Pay attention to the acoustics and order of the hall or room. Too much acoustic hall is usually not suitable for sound capture!
- The distance of the camera should be such that both the singer and the pianist are well seen, also pay attention to the sound quality.
- Be careful that the piano does not overpower the singer and vice versa! We advise you to do several test recording settings (layout, hall, room, ...) and choose the best one.
5) Upload the clip to your Youtube channel (you can create the account for free) and make it public.
- Track name: Name and surname, voice type, IMMCC 2020, Category, Stage 1 or 2 (Copy and paste the required data)
- Description of the clip:
International Singing Competition IMMCC Maribor 2020,
Singer: Name and Surname, voice type,
Pianist: Name and Surname of the accompanist,
Program:
Composer1: Composition1
Composer2: Composition2
etc.
6) From 1st of November 2020 to 31th of March 2021, there will be a link to the application form on the IMMCC website, where you will have to submit a link to your Youtube clip.
ATTENTION!
If the recording will not be available - if the organizer will not be able to play it in any way or the link will not work (you deleted it by mistake, did not publish it publicly, you intentionally deleted it), your application will be considered as incomplete and will be disqualified from the competition. We recommend that you check from another computer or mobile phone before signing up to see if the link to your singing works well and if you can play your video on another device.
7) Do not forget to send us also an email with the following attachments to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.:
- Photo (photo size should be at least 500kb in size, but please not more than 3MB),
